New Years Eve

It had to be one of the best ever. I never thought I'd say that seeing as how when I was younger, I never thought I'd be married. I'd go to the bars with my friends on New Years eve hoping to find Mr. Right, and never finding him. I can remember going one night with my bestie, and crying my eyeballs out. Everyone was all paired up, or so it seemed. She just looked at me, wondering what all the fuss was about. Several years later I met my true love.

This New Years Eve I spent it with family. We got free tickets to a Chicago Wolves game. It was exciting to see a live hockey game, as we had never been to one. The fireworks and special effects were great. Before the game, there were gamses, Disney Radio, dancing and face painting for the kids.

The wolves lost but we still had a great time out. After that we spent the evening at home with the girls swearing they were going to make it to midnight. They didn't of course. Becky fell asleep next to her dad on the couch and Abby fell asleep in bed next to me. We woke them up at the stroke of midnight, and 2 secs later back to sleep. Abby didn't even remember us waking her up! LOL. That was my best ever. How was yours?

How time flies

I didn't take Christmas pics of the girls at Christmas. I took some at our family Christmas party doing karoeke. I will have to post them here soon. I can't believe the year is almost done. According to the Mayan calendar, I won't be blogging this time next year, as the world is supposed to end 12-20-2012. Do you believe that? So much to do and so little time. I will bid adieu for now, and wish everyone a very happy 2012. Happy new year everyone!! Thank you to all my new followers and those that read from around the world. I am so happy to have a blog that is read from Palos Hills Illinois to Hong Kong and Bangladesh! I will take some New Years Photos.

Our beagle

We were told. Beagles are not loyal. They have their noses to the ground, and are hunters. Our girls wanted a puppy, and Becca wanted a beagle so bad. We got one. I have to admit however, he is worse than a toddler. Worse! Sparky is into everything. He kept escaping our fenced in yard. He is fast and quite the jumper we found out. We can not leave him loose in the yard unless we are directly watching him, for fear he'll jump out of the yard. So....

We got a dog run, in hopes that he would stay in the yard.

However.....as you can see above it didn't work to well....we are working on it though...

My trip to Mississppi

I was hesitant, I must admit. My husband said he needed me to go to help to drive, he couldn't do it alone. Hm, I said, YOU'RE going to let me drive?? If you're husband is like mine, he doesn't like wifey to drive. I had to arrange to get the time off, which was a neat trick since I work for 3 home health companies. Fortunately, census is down in all 3 businesses, so I was able to do it. We even had Sparky with us. I didn't take any pictures, but their grandmother Leona did. I have to get those.

The drive was beautiful but long. A 12 hour drive. We wouldn't have been able to do it if it was just a one person drive. When it was my turn, I was so tempted to go to Nashville. Next time we'll make a pit stop...I want to see Evis' house.

To combat boredom we listened to an audio book. It was my husbands type of course, but my youngest really loved it. I had wanted them to do flash cards and etc, but you know what they say about the best intentions. Have you taken a short trip somewhere? Let me know about it in the comments section.

Halloween is back!

They were coming out of the wood work! Trick treaters of everykind! Chuck, my husband had the girls and Sparky out trick or treating while I passed out candy. There were some really big trick or treaters, and when I asked some how old they were, they stated they were in 7th grade!!! Just what are 7th graders eating these days???

I have pics of my two daughters, in witch costumes I will load here soon.

Halloweeen is fun isn't it? So now that it's November 1st, when do you put up your Christmas tree? I'd love for you to comment on my blog. I can't wait to hear all the delightful answers.

People who don't have children, tell you what you should do. As a parent have you run into this? I'm sure many of you have...You have inlaws or friends, who decided not to have children for reasons of their own, yet offer free advice or tell you what you should do! Excuse me, you chose not to have children, therefore, you don't get a say in what I SHOULD do. If you haven't parented, don't offer parenting advice!

Others say they don't gossip about you, yet, the gossip that they DIDN'T do, got back to you. And they were the ones who started gossiping about things in the first place.

Intimate details of my family reach other family members. You know, the ones that you see once a year. How does that happen? Gossip! LOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT.

People forget the saying "when you point a finger, there is always 3 pointing at you" So true, yet people still like to point the finger and blame everyone, and ignore their own actions.

People forget the saying "if they're gossiping about you, they are gossiping about everyone else. So true, enough that it doesn't need explainatino.

Our new puppy

I guess I wasn't prepared for Sparky as I thought I was. He is really worse than any child I've been with, and worse than the two I am raising. He really is into everything, and is nipping at the girls. Although the nipping has toned down some. He also is 95% paper trained, I just found an accident he obviously had sometime after I swept the kitchen floor, and also ripped into my box of lentil soup from a wahm I bought. So right now I am not happy with Sparky at all. My husband wants to get him a shock collar but I don't know that that is best. We need to let sparky know he is not ruler of the roost. At night time, he does let us sleep, and he is fairly good with the girls...I am just very frustrated.

other news:

The family has been going on 1.5 mile treks at forest preserves. I have lost 20 pounds at least, but I have been sick, and am sure that I lost weight through my illness. I love being with my family on the weekends. I also have a baptism this weekend that I look forward to going to.

The girls will start their acting class this November, and Becca wants to be in Orchestra playing the Viola. The meeting for that is later this month, and there is a dance at our church for Abby the same day, so I don't know how I will be able to be in two places. Chuck will have to be in one, and I will drop Abby off in one I guess.

Also the school told Becca she had to choose her after school tutoring OR her religion. My husband threw a fit, and he isn't even Catholic. We will see how this develops after the weekend.

Mr. Mom

Yep, that's his new nick name. Chuck got news that he has to be home for a little while longer due to his carpal tunnel surgeries. Disappointing yes, for him anyway. He was looking forward to going back to work, and economically the best thing for us is to get him to work soon! Now to get to the point of the blog today.

A few day ago, we had the neighborhood kids playing in our yard. Unusual, yes, but doable. My house was not clean enough, sadly to have 5 children running around in it with a puppy. Besides, it was much nicer out that day. So, cut up a watermelon for them as a snack. Then, he made a fruit salad. He is experimenting for his 50th birthday party. Party goers will enjoy this colorful fruit salad on 8/27. Soon after, my 9 yr old comes in the house to declare her hunger ..and her friends as well. So fruit bowls for all. Easy enough. However, sandwhiches were a different story. Here's where Mr. Mom got a little frustrated, and found out, it wasn't so easy to be home. Five kids, three different way to make sandwhiches. Ham without cheese or condiments. Ham with cheese, no condiments, and then our two with everything. It boggled Chucks' mind, but he did. I sat back and giggled. Life is good. Good job Mr. mom! Regardless of how much he complained, he loved it.

Life of a Diabetic

Yep, I'm a diabetic. I don't dwell on it if I don't have to. I am bound and determined to watch my girls graduate go to prom, graduate high school, enter college or trade school and get married. Things my dad wasn't able to do. He was also a diabetic, but a very non compliant diabetic. I watched him deteriorate, and it wasn't a pretty picture. It was very sad actually, and his life shortened far too early. Diabetes is a horrible disease, and mainly genetic, but it can be controlled with meds and diet. That is how I hope to beat this disease! I have family members who are also diabetic. My brother, a sister, and a neice. So you could say, it runs in the family.

Having your world surrounded by thoughts of how one is going to eat isn't easy. One does have to watch high glycemic foods, such as white bread, potatoes, rice. Those foods raise the blood sugars. Also your sweetest fruits are not good, esp the really sweet ones...of course they raise blood sugar.. My doctor informed me "Everyone thinks fruit is good for them, it really isn't" It isn't good for a diabetic to pig out on them. We, you and I know that anything in moderation can't hurt, and fruits have some terrific antioxidants. So not all bad.

My blood sugars shot up because I was not eating well. I'm changing that and bringing my sugars down. Follow me again in my attempt to loose weight without pills and etc. Comment to this blog and tell me your tricks, and if you have any recipes, let me know that too!

Writing does the soul some good

I'll admit it, I am not the greatest writer. I want to be. I want to write a book about my heart child and write some childrens books. Writing helps me vent, talk about my children, my joys, my heartaches, my accomplishments. Writing helps me share the same experiences other mothers may have.

I must admit, I've had quite a few harsh sentiments about my blog. Those feeling the need to critique it. I've had alot about my businesses in my blog, and apparently not the type for some to read. But hey, I feel that if those who critique don't like what they read, they can choose not to read it. I love that I have an outlet to put down my thoughts. I never got into the whole journal thing. I blame Oprah for that. Everyone was journaling, Oprah made it big. I'm not into what everyone else is into, yet here I blog. I first started blogging to get some of my at home businesses, and my parties (vendor parties) off the ground.

I love to write about my daughters Abby and Becca. Becky, (as we call her) told us today she didn't like to be called Rebecca ann, and Abby didn't like Abigail. I told her they were beautiful names. Becky is getting to be quite the grown up 9 yr old. She said some very grown up things at breakfast this morning, although I can't recall them. I meant to blog about them right away, but had a patient to see. The girls are getting bigger, and Chuck is already thinking of retirement. I'm not ready for either. I'm probably going to work up until they actually dig my grave. I'm also prepared to have my girls around for a while with this economy.

I'm usually an optimist, but with this economy, I don't see anyone affording much. I feel fortunate we were able to sock a few bucks away for the girls for college or trade school..if they can use it. Worry worry worry, as one of my patients would say. Such is the life of a parent, ah yes they do grow up fast.

Pre teens, Abby I am so proud of you!

She may never know it. Even though I told her. She loves volunteerism. This is the 2nd or 3rd time she's done it. Today she packed food for children in underdeveloped countries. I didn't have to beg or coerce her. She also has the opportunity to go on a 2 day retreat. She didn't want to, but when she came back from her good deed, she was very excited and wanted to go again. I am so proud! I am glad she's a great kid. Sure she looses it every now and then, but I wouldn't trade her in for anything! I couldn't ask for a better kid. Ok, done bragging...

Awesome children

I have to admit, I have little to complain about with my two daughters. Their one flaw is every kids flaw, and that is their messy rooms. Sure my oldest has a salty mouth at times, but she gets alot from all around. Patience is a virtue, too bad the schools don't have it. I realize they must be strict there, but every one I talk too, and in different school systems has a negative thing to say about public schools. So I don't feel bad. So why are my kids awesome. It took some time, but they are actually starting to help out in the house. They actually like doing some of the house work. Now, I am not naive. I know there is something behind it...like allowance, and being able to get candy with the money they earned. What's wrong with that if they brush their teeth? And finally I am getting Becca to take a bath! I've never seen a girl not wanting to take a bath, but tv had its dark hold on her. They are great girls. Once in a while, I get a whine from them, but for the past couple of weeks their dad has been home, and that does help. I have them doing dishes, cleaning their rooms, taking out the trash and the dog, and cleaning their rooms, cleaning the living room as well. Hey, when mom works, everyone must help out, and Abby is even learning how to do laundry, awesome kids! I can't complain!

Annie Get your Gun! Congrats to Carmine and Wallace!

I'm sad this musical is over! Why? Because I still have all the songs going through my head. Abby and Becky have been actresses for a long time now! Abby since she was about 6 or 7. Becky since she was about 4. Laurie Carmine always does an excellent job directing these kids in whatever play she chooses. It doesn't ever look like it will all come together but she gets them there, and boy do the kids deliver. An awesome cast in Annie get your gun, and I have some pics here. We are not sure of the fate of our musicals, but here's to hoping the girls and directors will be able to carry on for a long time. The girls have camp next in the fall, so stay tuned for that. Laurie Carmine and Barb Wallace did an excellent job with Annie get your Gun. Not enough thanks and appreciation for all their work!!! If you see them running around without a play to direct, tell them Carole Harris said thanks!

Besides the drama camp Abby has decided she wants to join the youth ministry choir, and try the joliet glee club. Becky wants to do some kind of gymnastics, and perhaps learn to play the guitar. I wouldn't mind freshing my skills on the guitar either. Of course, we have parties to plan and things to do...not sure where our money tree has been lately...LOL....

Chucks surgery and then some

Well it won't be long. Unfortnately, all good things must come to an end. WE were doing very well. I am going to have to take on extra jobs again. I refuse to let people take our house. Chuck will be off for 2 mos, and I am not really sure what is going to happen. I DO have a job, but it is slow. I will be starting private duty, but it is half of what I earn now...but it will at least be something. Plus I will have my visits. I am applying for other home health companies as well. I now realize that when I quit my other home health job it was rather hasty, but I do feel I made the right choice and for the right reasons. The decision was also supported by my husband, so I KNOW I made the right decision.

I started my internet newspaper today. Not sure how it is going to go. I am also going to start interviewing wahms, which will appear in this blog. I am very excited about the venture. It will be a good thing, we can all learn from each other. It is my hope that the blog and interviews will flourish with lessons for us all.

The girls: Very busy. They are going to be in the musical Annie get your gun this year. The directors have a lot of kids to deal with, and I applaud them. It's a lot of work, and not quite sure how they pull it off every year. We had some news though, and not sure what is to become of it. The literary guild, which we are members of, will not be associated with Bicentennial Park. Chuck and I are not sure what this means for us and our girls. I guess I'll find out more on Monday.

Summer fun: We went swimming at the Beaconridge pool on Saturday. I love to swim. It was my hope it would lower my blood sugar, but it didn't. We are planning to go this coming weekend. Then I will really swim and do laps with my sister. She welcomes the company, and we are happy to oblige! The girls would live in pools and water if they could. Tonight they are at a sleep over with friends.

My diabetes: It's my fault it is out of control. I ate too much fast food, not eating the right stuff, and now they are too high. I do plan to walk on the tread mill either tonight or early in the morn. I will have to call my doc to ask for Januvia and see if that helps bring my sugars down again. I am hoping my walks, and treadmill will bring them down.

Gyms: my advice is for another time. It was a frustrating weekend in talking with Cardinal gym this weekend, and I don't want my frustration to be heard just yet. Breath!

Driving to Mississipi: Another thing to think about. I won't air it on this blog.

Bummer

This summer has been unpredictably rainy and cool. Not very hot at all. So when I broke my promise to go to splash station today because I just didn't have time, I didn't expect cool weather! It won't get warm until Friday or Saturday. So needless to say my girls were upset. We did however go to the library, and I think with this cool weather, we'll be making more and more trips. This is a good thing, they both need help and need to read more. Becca loves her animal and science books. They are both in the reading clubs at the library, so I hope that inspires them to read.

On another note...if sparky doesn't start eating more, I think I may call the vet. He slept alot today. His one hind leg is scraped up, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. The girls are always carrying him too, which chuck and I don't like. It doesn't give him time to walk.

cleaning day, and the puppy

I can not brag enough about how good this puppy is. Last night when we got home from a graduation party my hubby took care of the puppy. He is paper trained pretty well. We let him roam around for a little bit, and then he took him out. Well no poop or pee for the first time, but he hadn't eaten. So then my hubby thought he'd wait. So after I went to see my patient, I guess he fell asleep, and the puppy went to sleep on the couch at his feet. Well, then the puppy got down from the couch and went wee wee on the paper and somehow got back on the couch...(good puppy) He does go poop and pee outside. I know those of you reading this is probably thinking tmi...but I've never really had a puppy. We had two dogs when I was younger with my brother and sister, but I never really had the opportunity to bond with them, in fact I think they hated me. So I am really excited, I think we made a really good choice. The only problem is the girls won't leave him alone for beans. They took him for a walk, (they asked dad)but abby and becca walked all the way to the gas station. That was too far of a walk for that little pup. Hubby of course was not too pleased, nor was I. I really don't want my 9 yr old walking that far, or thinking she can walk without permission, or even with permission. For now anyway.

As far as cleaning day...it's like pulling teeth. I did sleep in, so now chuck is taking his nap. I will let him. He fixed breakfast and got up with the puppy and girls. He was up early. But the girls. So much laundry, I don't get how a family can gather up so much laundry. Anyway, I am energized, but I want to have my fun too, and I am going to do some work, then polish off my paperwork, and go into the office tomorrow. Becca really doesn't like cleaning so much or taking her dirty laundry down...grrrrrrrrrrrr.....Abby was cleaning her room. We shall see, if they do a good job I will take them to splash station if the weather is nice.

I was raised a very very strict Catholic. I think even stricter than anyone else in my family. When I was in about 4th or 5th grade, this girl Nancy Jo Kasko called me and my friend Lori homosexuals. While I wouldn't admit it to Nancy, I didn't know what she was talking about. So I asked my mother. My mother was very uncomfortable with the term, but I finally found out what Ms. Nancy was calling me. (I'll never know why every Nancy I have ever met has been a B**t**) but that's the way it goes. My parents weren't to forthcoming with the birds and bees with me...I made them very uncomfortable. I think secretly my mom was hoping I would become a nun. And I did think about it in my 20's, but soon found out, that I was probably not nun material. Although it's hard for me to believe all nuns...are oh so NUNLY.

In any event, any one with religous views has thought homosexuality was bad, so I'm a bit confused as to why this concept is foreign to ms. paltrow. Certainly she had religous friends in her younger years, if not so, perhaps in the present.

While the Catholic religion does shun homosexuality, we in my family do not. It isn't about growing with your religion either. It's about humanity, whether my religion feels it is wrong or not, you can never go wrong with a little humanity.

It's been a long time...but I have a few rants!

Rant rant rant.....

My number one rant is the rude people on the road today. I was out driving on the left lane...going faster than I should really, and I had this guy speed up behind me. He signaled and pointed for me to go into the middle lane. I was so mad! Yes I did. I flipped him off. I know I shouldn't have, but the nerve of this driver. He was going much faster than I, so eventually he passed me. I eventually moved to the middle lane. Then I got the honkers. I wasn't turning fast enough, or starting to go on the green light fast enough. The worst honkers are the trucks that are usually 8 cars behind. Now who do they think they are? How much of a gain do they think they will make by honking? I wonder.

My second rant is at this blogger who was on Carson Daly. I much rather follow @BrandyEllen or some other wahms then follow her. She makes dumb declarative and often insulting comments on her twitter. The only reason she has so many followers is because of a rocker who told everyone to follow her. There is nothing special about her blog, she even rants at the women on the view for commenting about her. I'm not sure why she qualified as a writer. The one comment she made on twitter that really irked me however was about children. If you are going to pick on children pick on your own. I was raised never to comment on peoples looks. If you point your finger at someone, there were three pointing back at you. I guess for tasteless twitter comments you get followers.

Why would any mom follow someone who states on twitter "one of the most popular rides @ disney are obese 10 yr olds being pushed in strollers.

Really has a lot of audacity, and who is she to judge. My job here isn't to disuade you in following @kellyoxford but if you're a mom...why would you?

I'll have to post some pics here or on my facebook page. I'll find some way to post the pictures. Alot of the pictures were taken by my daughter Abigail. She is a wonderful photographer. I saw 93.9 there. A Chicago radio station, and I didn't get the time to chat. Darn it. So after the field trip we stayed 3 more hours to see the jellies....lol I only saw a few jelliles, but I took a lot of rests so I must have missed out. WE were all tuckered out. The girls and I slept on the way home, then I spent some time on the way home on twitter and face book. Then slept some more, and some more. It was a longggggggggggggggg day! Next week is mothers day. I'm not sure what is planned, but hubby did say he was staying home. So maybe it's a nice quiet sunday. We will see. Stay tuned for pics. I've seen every kind of fish and shark we could have seen.

Our mini vacation

It was lovely, pictures pending. It was obvious, my husbands goal was to get me out walking. God bless his soul. I really had seen enough zoos in my lifetime, so when we went to the milwaukee zoo, it was not my cup of tea, but he did go into the little houses with the girls. Becca was a little ball of energy. She's great.

We went to the Discovery Center first. My back was really bothering me and I had masssive cramps. I was not much fun that day. Chuck abby and becca all had fun.

The water park at the Hilton was only open on the weekend. I found a swim suit at Catherines so I could be in the water with the girls if needed. It's really a water park for 12 and under. The girls LOVED it. I loved the hot tub which I dipped into the 2nd day. It was quite lovely. YEP! LOL. The last night Becca was wide awake. She knew there was a fitness center on the floor, and mom had promised she could exercise with her. Boy was she bound and determined to find this fitness center. So we went, and this security guard came in and said "we really don't let the kids play on the equipment" I said she isn't playing, she's using the treadmill and exercising. I believe in having my kids get some exercise. She's a great kid, and we didn't stay there long due to the time of day...It was around 2 am....we wanted to exercise the food off that came with the room service....tee hee...
In Aug we may go on another mini vacation.....where should we go? you know for a weekend....I was thinking about even staying in chi town for the weekend...there is just so much to do!

Waking up fresh/starting anew

OK, so I got a new computer, new clothes, new glasses. (yes I found out I really need bifocals, but too vain to get them). I haven't felt well for months, and have been through a few jobs recently. (nice job carole) Well I am fortunate that I chose a career that is pretty much recession proof in that nurses are needed everywhere, it is findinging a place for little ole me that feels not so paranoid. Which isn't easy. Not easy at all.

Progress on Chuck: He went back to the toolbox. He has just started this. He seems much happier not being in management.

The girls: Still waiting for public school to evaluate Becca. Take your time, the school year is almost over now! And thinking of getting Abby vocal/singing lessons although with her behavior...*sigh*....just in the morning....what a grouch. None of us girls are morning people....ESP Abby. Enuff said. And how are you waking up fresh?

Do you go through highs and lows with your job? I feel like that, and I always hope the new year will bring great things. Lately, my new years have started so roughly, that when it finally gets some momentum, and some good, that it's the end of the year, and its over with quickly. Any tips on how I can start my new year out greatly. Perhaps it is my own fault this year. But I won't take the credit in the previous ones. I won't badmouth my job or boss in my blogs. We can talk privately about jobs. I'd love to hear any tips you have. This is not starting out like the new year I wanted.... I don't see how I'll accomplish my financial or social goals feeling this beat up. Please do contact me if you have ideas.

Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhoooooooooooooooooooosh it came and went, and if you blinked your eyes you missed it. We were all inundated with Black Friday ads, and who had the best ads, who had the cheapest XbOx, or Wii, and our kids were able to fill their lists with plenty of expensive wishes. I know mine filled their wish lists a couple of times. So did you wake up at the crazy hours to go shopping? Or did you stay up late? And the car industry is trying to get in on it...but let's face it...they won't fit it in will they? They will really have to to have some scrumptious deals to offer us after we've bailed everyone else. I think the sales for the stores will still keep coming. We still have plenty of sales, but lets get back to the original question. All the fuss just for a couple of days. I must say my holidays were pleasant. My Christmas and New Year were quiet, and even though I had to work new years eve, it was enjoyable. With all the craziness, I am glad that my family and I were safe. I am glad I was able to provide just enough gifts for my immediate family and they were happy with what they have. I'm really so grateful for so many things my family won't know. I'm grateful my inlaws got my daughters coats. I'm grateful for the small gift my sister in law gave me. I'm very grateful for the gifts that my hubby and daughters got me, they were spot on.

And what about your new years resolution? I belong to cardinal fitness and I have to stop by the gym more often. I will eventually switch over to the park district because abby wants a membership. I would like to eventually like to leave joliet, chuck wants a bigger house. I just want better school choices and etc.

YES AND....

So I too had my first Improv workshop, and signed the family up for the Joliet Drama Guild. No worries, I am not giving up my day job just yet. Kayce Alltop was the Improv master, or the one who taught the work shop. She made even those who were not actors like myself very at ease. I must say, that I learned alot. I also feel that Improvisation or this type of workshop can help one with every day work as well, not just actors. It certainly helped me.

I was excited to hear she was an accomplished actor/person. She's directing and doing improv @ second city, which I find very cool. She also does voice over work. If you ever do get a chance, out of curiosity, as I did to take an Improv class I encourage you so. It was a lot of fun.

The one exercise I really like was the YES AND.....
you couldn't start a dialogue without saying this. This did two things. Yes and....
built on story line. I bought donuts...(next person: Yes and....)
Acceptance was another theory. You accepted what the other person said...I bought donuts, YES AND...yes and I ate them, yes and, Yes and they were good donuts, I need more.

We keep conversations like this going in our every day life and don't even realize we are doing it.

Our next game...is something I am sure we all ask our kids during the day at one point...."what are you doing"
You really had to be quick and think. Creativity was a must. This is a great tool, and can beeven made fun at parties.

I really look forward to more Joliet Drama Guild workshops. I plan to be a little more active, although my degree is in nursing, and I am no actor....I am going to see where this might lead me.

Is it my duty/obligation or MY CHOICE?

I say it is MY CHOICE. To vote that is. I realize that many have suffered and won for women to vote. But it is still my choice of whether or not to vote. I came from a large voting family. Republican or Democrat, or what ever you were, you voted. Not me, in fact, I didn't register to vote until I was 26. Yep, I was that jaded. I hadn't seen many of the politicians do much of anything besides talk, and REALLY couldn't see what I could do to help.

Well then I became a nurse, and got involved in my union, so I needed to be involved in politics. Met my husband who at that time was a Republican. A Republican!

Since then I have become an Independent, as is my husband. Alot of time has gone by, and in the Era of BLAGO and the like, I vowed never to put another criminal in office. Now I know all those who say it is my obligation.....how dare I! But how are we to know who is criminal and who isn't. I've always said Hollywood bought the race for the president. Whether that is true or not I don't know. It sure seems like it though. Alot of hollywooders campaigned hard for President obama.

Getting back to the topic at hand. What I do feel is my obligation is to keep the criminals out of office. So is not voting the answer? I don't know. And do I have the right to complain, since I didn't vote. I think I do. There is still a first ammendment. I don't complain much anyway. To be truthful...unless a huge meteor crashes into the earth, I don't see much hope for a better economy. I'm sorry but there is no fix or cure all. We all live above our means, whether we want to admit it or not. Obama or any other president will not fix the mess we are in....so to say we won at any election at any point, is in my opinion a mute point.

Unless we can get on the right track, and things improve, jobs, growth, spending, smaller government, no one wins. Fix the homeless, domestic/elder/child abuse. Fix illiteracy. Fix the schools, quit arguing...and DO something. Until the politicians do. I am not voting. That's what I am doing.

I'm seeing it all over. The I did it. I voted. I'm seeing this all over facebook and on blogs. I must tell the truth. I didn't vote, and have no plans to. I did my part. I listened to the town meetings over the phone, Kirk was one. I went to the parades and met some of you politicians, Aj wilhelmi and cedra crenshaw. I read the adverts, and watched the tv ads. I even participated in the marketing surveys in hoping I'd understand what it was YOU were going to do in office.

The only thing I understood, was that YOU, the candidate, the non politician, the accountant, the honest guy, told me absolutely NOTHING. So why should I put you in office. It is my right to gripe whether or not I voted. Freedom of speech is what they call it. I will NOT put another criminal in office. Or anyone I think or deem is a criminal any way. Juries can be tampered with, and NO ONE speaks up before billions of dollars are wasted. Well I won't do it. Give me an honest and I mean HONEST soccer mom, and then we'll talk.

I mean listen up candidates, who else knows how to balance a business, entertaining for the hoiidays and special occasions, homework, doctors and dentists for everyone, bills, tv, movies, pets, and clean a house? WHO? and I truly hope you didn't say DAD.

Now that the rest of my collegues have done their best in trying to put the correct person in office....can you please quit with the phone calls. I mean really, if telemarketers bug us, the majority, what gives you the right?

What are your family traditions

Aside from any religious traditions, do you have any family traditions? Like game night or movie night? My youngest daughter deemed Friday nights as movie night. A night where the whole family gets together and watches movies. No stress, no friends, no family other than us.

Another tradition we have is gift buying. The whole family participates, like today for the girls birthday party. I went with the girls to buy the present, and dad help get the present ready for show.

How about game night. I bought the girls a new game yesterday. A junior apples to apples. I don't know when our game night will be. Maybe after all is said and done it will be Saturdays. My girls are growing up so fast, I want to catch as much time with them before they don't want to spend any time with me at all.

One tradition I'd really love to start is bike riding together. If I can ever get to get my bike out of the garage I'd like that.

Another tradition we have is pumpking hunting. We usually carve one pumpkin for Halloween. Sometimes the girls and I will roast the pumpkin seeds. I need to figure out the best way to do them .....

Childhood ambitions

Wow! I finally have the time to take one of the bloggy challenges! The challenge of course is childhood ambitions. The big question is, did I ever think I would be where I am today or not? Let's take a walk down my childhood dream wish list of ambitious professions shall we. Feel free my Harris family to take the walk with me, and see if you can tell exactly where it is, was and how I met your mother....LOL....(yes a little pun on the show.)

Well at the age of 7 I began playing the piano. I'm not really sure how I got started, I just remember working with the nun in my elementary school. This is where I think I got my musical ambition and dream to play musical instruments. I later went on to play more piano, although on my own. I played the organ at my cousins, and I learned the flute and guitar later. I played my guitar until it got stepped on by my brother. I now have a piano in my home, and have since taken some more lessons, and can play a little...I still would like to be more proficient. My daughters are also interested in playing.

As I went further into elementary school, we (me and my best friends) dreamed of many things. We dreamed of being nurses, or for me writers and even actresses. I wanted to be a dancer at one point until I found out I had scoliosis. That crashed that dream for some reason.

My sister and I would practice doing tooth paste commmercials in front of the mirror. It was fun and something to do. I still believe there was a missed opportunity for my sister....In her younger days she really should have been a model! (my sils too)

In Junior high, at the last minute I worked on the year book. Because I was such a last minute decider, my picture wasn't taken. I thought I would want to work on something like that or a newspaper. So in high school I thought I would work on the school newspaper. But, because I didn't have a lot of encouragement, I was too scared to go for it. Shame, because I really did want to become a writer! I still can do it at my age however. I tell my children you can do whatever you want, and am forever their cheerleader. Even though I never made cheerleader in junior high, and yes, I did try out...I am my childrens cheerleader as every parent should be.

In highschool, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so I took a bunch of business courses. To tell you the truth, my future looked grim. Alot of kids were on drugs, and those I didn't really know talked about college. So my dream or ambition at that time was to go to college. Why did my future look grim? My family had never really prepared for me to go to college. It was never discussed, or even thought of. My parents didn't think about it and didn't plan or put any money away for me, and they didn't allow me to drive. That prevented me from getting a decent job to put money away for my self. My older brother had gone to JJC, but had dropped out, and that was the end of college days, or so my family thought.

I got a pell grant to start off my college days, and I got very lucky. I didn't do well in junior college for a long time. I dropped out, failed out....wondered if I made the right decisions, when really the trick for me to do well was to be around people who wanted me to succeed! I made it through the nursing program at JJC.

In 1991, I graduated, and I met the love of my life. OOPS, I forgot,,....when I was little, I absolutely dreamed of having the big wedding and the white dress...which I did do! Three years later, after I graduated I married Chuck....Edward Charles Harris....(ya can't tell when I met my mil?) (me neither, for another time I suppose)
I also dreamed of being a photographer, and have to admit, that some of my pictures aren't too bad!

I didn't become the actress that I wanted, but, I help my daughters now practice their plays, and one day, who knows I may even get a chance!

As far as a writer, well I blog, and write reviews, and market for my business. That's a lot of writing. I do plan to write some books, I need to be a little more focused then what I am now however.

Right now I am happy at where I am. I got offered a great job, and if I can take it I will. IF I can't, I'm still happy! I am a nurse, and it's a great job. I am a mom first, and it's an awesome job. I am a wife and it's a worrisome job. I am a friend and facebooker and those are fun jobs. I have many jobs, and look to more in the future.

The Aristocrats

That's my daughters next play. They rehearsed one of the songs today, or just learned it. Such a great bunch of directors and the kids are so gung ho! There are 27 kids this summer. I think the record count was 40 one summer. Some new and old faces. Nice to see our Brenda return and our pianist. Both are very busy all year round anyway I am sure. I don't think our main director has even sat down from the Wizard of Oz yet. We have 4 more performances for that play. I was supposed to be in a play, but I don't think I'll get my big chance just yet. I hate to bug our director. It's so menial, and my way to stardom can wait. LMAO. I'll take some pics when the girls are dancing. I'm going to try and have the whole 2 hours off from work, but it may not be that way all the time. Until later.

Good morning from hot humid Illinois! It's been quite rainy and gloomy here recently.
It is summer though, and with summer there is swimming, beach parties, plays outside, picnics, fun and plenty of SUN.

In saying that I will be reviewing a product for neutorgena. It is a sunblock. I haven't been outside much. Right now it is very very dark outside....I wonder if there is a thunderstorm warning.

Oz time is getting closer!

It's so funny! I never thought my husband would enjoy doing what he is doing. But he does. Chuck is a stage hand, handy man, jack of all trades at the play. He's into it. He loves doing it, and even bought the makeup for their play. Of course, I have to apply it. I am so proud of my three! I can't wait for the play. Abby and Chuck are thinking about voice lessons for Abby, and Becca still wants to learn the piano. I can help her with some, but other than that, she needs to go to the instructor. Ah girls after my own heart. Abby also wants to do soccer camp, and basketball camp.

Becca will be going to after school activities for about a month, which I hope includes SOME tutoring. I have to find new tutors for the girls, as I will work with them too, but it just is a better situation with someone else. If you are in the Illinois, Joliet area, come see the Wizard of OZ!!!!

It's a new month, and so much has happened!

Rebecca made her first communion, and Abby will be going into jr. high next year. My girls are growing up! I'm not nearly ready for it. Becca loves farmville, and loves to help me harvest my crops. We are still planning a vacation, just not sure when. That is because the girls are always busy with something. We recently had cousin Karen here for the memorial day weekend. The girls went swimming. Work has been really good for us. We've been able to get to our debts, I just hope it keeps that way for a while. We all got our first summer colds. Abby also got her bike stolen. That makes 2 bikes stolen out of our yard, Chuck wants to move to a bigger house.

School is out in just a few days! The girls are in the Wizard of oz, and Abby has two parts. She also was in the talent show at school. So busy!

They will be in plays in the summer also, but not sure what. Well off to work and school.

A: I would meet Benjamin Franklin.

A: I like playing music, standing on my head, walking around in nature -- and if I’m really feeling ambitious, I’ll do all three at the same time.

Q: What is the best way to prepare for a love scene?
A: The best way to prepare for a love scene is by spending lots of hours at the gym.

Q: What is your favorite sport?
A: Basketball – college or NBA.

Q: What would you be doing if you weren’t an actor?
A: If I could not act I would NOT be one of those people who give you tickets for expired parking meter. I would be a surgeon or a police office in Alaska. Only in Alaska.

Q: Describe your perfect date.
A: My perfect date is being with a girl I can talk to.

Q: What is one of your favorite things to do?
A: When it is just me and my dad my favorite thing is to sit outside, drink a scotch and talk about nothing.

Q: What do you do for Thanksgiving?
A: I spend Thanksgiving with both sides of my large extended family.

Q: describe your most memorable moment on GH.
A: When Jonny was shot 5 times and survived it, recovered and went to a wedding the next day.

Q: What was the most memorable moment of pop culture in 2009?
A: Clearly it was when we lost the late and great MJ.

My beautiful 7yr old just woke up. Her birthday is in March. I gave her a huge hug and said, Becca can you stay 7 forever. Silence. I hugged her even tighter. "I can't be 7 forever, my age is coming up." What I said. "I'm going to be 8." "Well then can you be 8 forever?" I said, still hugging her, even tighter now. She says to me, "You can't be young forever." "Why not?" "You just can't be young forever, I'm going back to bed"

Oh why can't they be young forever!!!! Wishing I could go back to bed too!

This time of year

This time of year brings all kinds of sickness. I know from experience, my children and husband were sick this Christmas and New Years. My husband had the worst of it. If you choose to get the flu shot this year, I encourage you to do so. If not, below are signs and symptoms of the flu, not to be confused with the common cold. I believe my oldest, and hubby have really bad colds. Becca may have had a touch of the flu. While the biggest prevention is washing your hands, even with the best asceptic technique you can get sick. The best way to wash hands, is under warm water, and RUB your hands for least 5 mins. Wash them up to your wrists, and rinse well. You can choose to use a hand towel, or paper, just make sure you dry your hands well.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW.

1.) Temperature over 100 degrees. It's important to drink lots of fluid to replenish fluids lost with temp. If you're on any kind of meds, consult your physician for further action. Some medications are diuretics, and you want to be communicating with your physicians when you are sick.

2) Headaches may be related to sinus problems due to a runny nose or other sinus problems. Some people may have general aches and pains associated with the flu. Queasy stomachs are also common.

These are just two symptoms to pay attention to. If you have persistent vomiting or just can't get well after being sick, go see your doctor. If you're on a roller coaster with your family and passing things back and forth...go see your doctor. If you're unsure of ANYTHING...go see your doctor. I know from experience, and not just because I'm a nurse. My family has been sick on and off since Thanksgiving with hubby having it the worst. What did they do? They went to see the doctor. Have a good night everyone. Have a very healthy New year.

My New years resolution

I don't ever abide by them, keep them, or truly make them. But something has got to be done! My health has gone to pot. I'm not sick, but I surely could take much better care of myself. This year, the end of the year is when I'm getting all my check ups done. That shouldn't happen. I just got my teeth cleaned, and have to have one removed. Why, simply put, I put everyone ahead of me.

I love my new job, but sometimes it can be too much. It's alot of paperwork, but I truly love the fact, that for the most part I'm autonomous. I like the fact, that the majority of the doctors aren't trying to throw me under the bus, or calling me foul names. And most importantly I don't share a job with other nurses who are trying to eat their young. I have two dons that truly care about the agencies, and I believe want to see all succeed. That is a good feeling. But my health must come first. (yes after abby becca and chuck, but before my patients) I did join a gym, which I will go to shortly to try to loose some pounds. I have to eat correctly also, and get my left shoulder fixed. I couldn't do the closed mri, so I will have to go to an open mri to get my left shoulder looked at. ( I fell at walt disney world) I do get plenty of me time....thank goodness. I have my blog, my fellow bloggers, face book and twitter.

So I resolve to take better care of me in 2010, the rest will fall into place. What about you, do YOU have a new years resolution?

The holidays!

I had so much fun with my daughters this holiday season. Abby is 11 and Rebecca is 7, and I have to say they are at the perfect ages for Christmas!

Abby wanted to Christmas shop, just to shop, and Becky really does know how to keep a secret. Which worried me a little. Abby is getting the age to where she doesn't believe in Santa Claus, which means in no time, neither will Becky. We had a good year, in which we were able to spoil both kids. Which is good, because they are great kids!

I also got some baking time in with the girls. We baked cookies, and enjoyed them as well. I didn't get to do all the baking I wanted, but maybe next year. Baking during the holidays was a tradition when I was a little girl. I absolutely loved it, all the way into my 20's. It's something I want to hand down to Abby and Becky. We didn't get to bake for the neighbors, but we will make time next year for sure. We didn't get to go to Chicago like I wanted to either to see all the stores and lights. Instead, we went to Woodfield Mall in Schaumberg. What a mall! It's huge, and every high end store you can imagine was in that mall. For me, and avid window shopper, it would take a few days to get through that mall. My hubby went with us, he's not a shopper, but to spend time with the girls he agreed.

Next on my agenda is planning this trip to NYC in August. I have my work cut out for me since my husband agreed to go. He really is agreeing so I can go to Blogher 2010, and I'm not really sure what to expect with this convention. I hope it goes well. Other vacation plans include Boston in a few years...and then well, it's too early to decide.

Is anyone reading this I wonder. I see visitors on feedjit, but no one ever comments. On occasion I get a comment from a blogger friend. I feel like Julie and Julia, the ever persistent blogger, not knowing if I'm being read or not. Until next time.

What scent am I?????

Finally a question worth exploring! This question was raised by the folks at Downy and Twitter moms. What scent describes me?? I have two that come to mind. I love pumpkin! I have pumpkin candles around in my home, and pumpkin sachets. I think it's the perfect scent to describe the fall season. The second scent that describes me is my all time favorite, lavender. I love that two. It's girlie, soft, smells great. I love it in my bath, candles, as as air freshner. I could never be both combined. I'm not sure it would smell all that great. So separately, depending on my mood, I think I am both. I would say also that both are sort of free spirit fragrances or scents, which sometimes describes my attitude.

ON MY MIND TUESDAY

HI GANG!

It's been a while since I've written an On my mind note. The vendor chat sites are so competitive it's really getting quite nasty. So I thought I would write a little something about what is on my mind. For those that don't know, I've had vendor parties on Fridays for over 2 yrs. Yahoo blasts started with vendor parties in order to get people to come to these parties. (just a little background) When the owners of the sites became familiar with each other, they were professional and courteous as to NOT have parties on the same nights as others. This served all well, and many had a blast. It then grew into a monster...everyone wanted to make money and do vendor parties. So then came party hopping.

Party hopping is where potential customers, buyers, and other vendors were in more than one party room. This served well because it provided people the ability to see more sales and do more networking.

Zoom to 2009....Suddenly for some free sites party hopping is a problem. For the record, I do not see it as a problem. Those with restrictive party room policies only hurt themselves. For me to tell a customer where she/he can go to purchase or network in my opinion is unfair, and borders on being unamerican. I mean who am I to tell you where you can go??? The only steadfast rules I have at caroles party central is 1)be courteous, kind, and professional to all. 2) interuppt as little as possible 3) no back selling 4) pay all vendors 5) change name in fair if asked, and if not you will be banned for protection against hackers and anyone else. 6) be on time, and pay on time 7) stay for at least one presentation before or after yours. 8) if you promise a prize as a vendor, it is up to you to make sure your winners get your prize. If they do not get it, you will not be allowed to present in my room until prize is received. I will never tell you, that as a customer or friend you can't be in more than one chat. Sure arguments can be made, but I really feel we are all adults, and should be allowed to go shop where, when and with whom we want. Party hopping doesn't necessarily mean people aren't paying attention, according to its critics. People step away from their computers for a variety of reasons, and necessarily because they are in multiple chat rooms. YOU can not MAKE SURE people are paying attention or guarentee sales no matter what my critics may say. This was just on my mind. Feel free to give me your opinion or not. Weight Loss Challenge!/Happenings from our vacation

Well it has begun! My hubby is excited about our next vacation to New York City...that's not why he challenged me. Although I do look forward to it. It'll be nice to see my handsome husband get back into the shape he once was. He has two dynamite kids to keep up with. They really are a bundle of energy. No, it came when I said I'd love to take the girls to Wyoming or Montanna to go horse back riding. Hence the rub, one has to be under 250 to ride a horse! So wish me luck. I said we are to loose 10 pounds by December, he wants to loose 50 by vacation time next year. We shall see what happens.

We went to Walt Disney World on our vacation this year. It was Beccas' 2nd airplane ride, and am so glad we all made it back in one peice. Of course we couldn't have an uneventful vacation. I ended up hurting my shoulder, and it took three doctors to determine it wasn't dislocated. I go to my own doctor this saturday. It was, and still is very painful, although I am able to move it a little better. Chuck had to help me with my bra on or I had to keep it on. I was wishing I had help this morning, it wasn't easy! Abby tried to help me, bless her soul. I think I may need some physical therapy, but will let the doctor decide that. All in all, I think the girls, Chuck and I had a great trip. It was fun seeing all the characters, parades, and rides. Becca is a real daredevil, and Abby still is my waterbug!! So is Becca! My girls do make me feel young, and I wish I could bottle up their energy. Abby bought back these cool light up drumsticks from Disney! They really are a cool toy for all. Now how can I top that for Christmas?

ok, I am going to add to this rather than just post the schedule. Why do a vendor party?
A better question is why not? They are all the rage for sure. Whether you pay for a slot or not, make sure you mix it up. Saving money is definitely a MUST in this economy, but people do want to see business owners INVEST in their business. With Caroles Party Central, you don't have to break the bank. AND we are more affordable then doing an outside festival or fair. There are plenty of sites that you can party at, just don't forget us, we've been doing parties for almost 3 yrs!
Party with us on Fridays. We are planning to bring back the bingo vault with delicious prizes from some of your favorite vendors. Always remember to stay positive. I know getting sales in this economy is everyones primary concern, but being a nay sayer is not good for your mental health, business health or overall health. People believe what they read, and is sometimes not all that easy to interpret on the internet. You (the vendor) may be a very positive person, but if you're always negative about ds or vendor parties, that is what will be read, not your true personality. Being positive is cliche, but also a must when on the internet, and party hopping.

Update on my commitment

It's not that I'm not committed. Everything I do, I try to give 110%! I did join the gym, but this and the last week I've had trouble getting to it. I am going tonight however! I am committed. I gained instead of loosing...ahhhhhhhhh...how could that happen? Ah well...there is orlando, and plenty of walking...I'm sure to loose at least one pound there. Thanks to all my followers for your support and kind words and please do come back here for support. Together we can support each other. I know most of us have businesses at home too....please feel free to ask me if you can guest blog on here too. I may have a feature where we vent or give each other advice, support or whatever! I will tell you how my exercise regime went this weekend! I joined Cardinal Fitness, and I believe it will be well worth the investment, as well as working out on my own treadmill. Keep the comments coming!

Start with....commitment Sunday!

Today is Commitment Sunday! I am committed to getting back into shape. Yes, I've said it before, but I've looked at recent photos of myself, and really am not happy. I want to loose 10 lbs at least. I'm realistic. I want to loose more actually, but I will start with 10. I will be honest with myself. With my new job, I've been doing alot of eating on the run. Stuff I've avoided doing for the past 1 1/2 yrs. I fell off the wagon, shame on me! Luckily my diabetes has been stable. My goal when I was diagnosed was to be off the meds by this time. I am somewhat disappointed, but realize I am only human, have flaws, and not infallible. I will set new goals, with the first a 10 lb weight loss by October. (or at least 1/2 that) I'm off now....Will go do the treadmill after cold case tonight. If you'd like to join my commitment sunday, leave a comment in the comment section. I know today was Abbys' day. She made her first communion, and in a few weeks we are on vacation to Disney. But I honestly can't wait for next year. I'm very excited about our potential trip to NYC next year. Yes, I was scoffed at, but I looked things up. I'm sure we will have plenty for everyones liking to do. Why NYC? I am very anxious to go to the BLOGHER2010 conference. I want to see what its' all about. I'm excited about everything. Disneyworld I've been to, NYC I haven't. I think it will be good for the girls too! I'm going to keep planning and saving.....I'll let you know more soon!

Caroles Rant of the week!

New feature starting today! My rant of the week. It goes something like this...It is either about a hot topic on tv, or about a celebrity, (his her views, or quiet anything) or wahm thing. Here's my rant for today. BRAD PITT!

We all love him, or at least most of us do...whether you think he's charming, great looking, or is a great humanitarian. The man knows how to get attention. One thing that gets my goat however is this. Brad Pitt would like for us (you and I) to not tell him how to live, not to judge, or do anything of that sort. That's fine Mr. Pitt....but I believe you do the same as we do. You have an abundance of dislike for the religious, or so it seems. He has said, he is 20% atheist, and 80% agnostic. In some of the print I have read, he clearly does not like religious people and seems quite judgemental in his words. (my opinion) And while he states in the media he doesn't like to be told how to live, he continues to preach about prop 8 and the like.

Don't misunderstand. I am a big Brad Pitt fan, and don't have anything against prop 8. However, if someone doesn't like to be judged, and told how to live, then why are you telling us what we should vote for? AND why are you telling us HOW people should be allowed to live?

While I agree with some of Mr. Pitts' politics, I can't say I agree with his double edged sword.

If I tell you: "don't tell me or anyone else how to live"...be sure, I won't be telling anyone else how to live, vote or anything of the like. Just my rant.

Religion and teaching

I will admit, I am not as religious as I was in my teens or twenties. I think this is a blessing in disguise, but only time will tell. I do try to raise my daughters in the best possible way I can. I try to spend as much time with them as I can, both my hubby and I. I just did splurge and bought Miley Cyrus tics, and we are hoping to go on vacation. The kids don't get that much, they really do not. They sign up for one or two activities a year. This year it will be acting again. I know I said I would add video. I'm waiting ....we will do that. But back to religion, as I digress....

We have made a major milestone! Abby made her first reconciliation. Then got mad at dad, because he wouldn't let the girls go swimming....go figure, she is only 10~ .....

Right now they are helping dad clean the yard. Yes, we are trying to instill that into them too....CLEANING!!! Imagine that....for girls, they are the messiest.....

My girls are good girls.....they are...on some days you couldn't tell, and on some days you would swear they are angels. To be honest they are somewhere in between....SOMEWHERE>.....LOL.....I love them, and don't know where I'd be without them!

How to apply bronzer, from MONET MINERALS

Spring is here - Fake a tan!
Everyone loves a nice glow, but who wants to risk the harmful effects of the sun? I know we all (especially those of us in the midwest) are desperate to get rid of that Casper white color once the temperature is nice enough for shorts. But before you turn to a tanning bed or your nearest beach, try a mineral bronzer to give yourself a healthy glow.

I've tried bronzer before,
it made me look orange and/or dirty

This is very common of the bronzers we're used to, but mineral bronzers are natural and very forgiving. Plus, a lot has to do with how you apply your bronzer. It's not hard, but there are a few simple steps you must follow if you want a beautiful sun-kissed tan.

The secrets

First cleanse and gently exfoliate your skin as you normally do. Apply a moisturizer and wait 10-15 minutes before applying your makeup.

Apply your concealer and foundation as you normally would. Even if you are already tan and the bronzer matches your skin tone, I recommend using a veil under your bronzer to aid in oil absorption.

Once you're done with your foundation, use your kabuki brush or another big powder brush and apply a small amount of your bronzer to your brush.

Gently sweep the brush across your forehead, down the bridge of your nose and around the tip of your chin (like you are making the letter "U").

Add a bit more powder to your brush, making sure to tap off the extra and gently brush the bronzer down the hallows of your cheeks and then to the apples of your cheeks (you are basically making a soft outline of your face).

I also like to brush it across my eye lids and my neck and chest.

Set your bronzed look with a translucent or tan veil.

Other tips

If you apply too much, tap off the brush and blend until you remove the excess.

Don't stop at your face! You can use mineral bronzers on the rest of your body, too.

Skip the sweaty pantyhose and apply bronzer to your legs for a night on the town.

A light shimmer eye shadow and nude glossy lips top off a beautiful summer tan.

Turning 44, Am I complete yet?

Today in People magazine, supermodel Rebecca Romijn stated she felt complete with her twins. This Saturday, May 16th, I turn 44. I don't know when I'll be complete, but my two daughters sure make my life interesting to say the least.

I'm 8 yrs older then Ms. Romijn and already know the joys of motherhood, I wish every mom luck with their journey. Good luck with math, as Becca and I struggle with getting her math homework done. Needless to say, we haven't been able to get it done recently, and it's not her favorite subject either. My personal feeling is that kids do get too much homework these days.

Abby will be in the 5th grade, and I'm not sure how we feel about that yet. Soon we will give camping a try. Stay tuned for our adventures as summer is approaching.

I like The View ladies, I really do. I mean, where else can you find a bunch of catty women who are just blatantly catty, and well to be truthful rude to their guests when they overtalk them??? No where, and perhaps that's why the show is so popular, and gets the brunt of jokes. Aside, individually each one is uniquely talented.

I was troubled when I tuned in The View, however to find 3 out of the 5 defending Jaime Foxx in relation to Miley Cyrus, saying he's a comedien, and he was "supposedly" joking. Really?
Are these ladies clueless...and Elizabeth Hasselbeck, was suprisingly quiet, which I found unusual, as outspoken and vehment as she is with these ladies. All of these ladies have children, adopted or their own. Now, if they don't have girls, certainly they CAN remember what it was like to grow up as a teen girl...can't they??? And since when is it ever ok for an adult to make fun of ANY teen, much less say the stuff Jaime Foxx said on his radio show??? I find this unacceptable. Ok, you're a comedien, whether dirty, clean or whatever, one thing is clear. It isn't ok to make fun of kids in any sense.
Teens, especially girls, in todays world have enough on their plate without adults causing more stress. We want our teens to pay attention and respect us right? Why would they do that when they hear adults like Jaime Foxx and the ladies on the view. The ladies made excuses. Not to mention, it lays the whole foundation for men to verbally abuse and joke about women world wide. Unacceptable ladies. There is a line. If you're going to be funny, be funny, but also be a humanitarian, kind, compassionate. These aren't values that you haven't learned are they???? Comediens should draw the line at kids, and yes Sherie Shepherd did say that, but it was drowned out by the others, shame! It is a shame that these women didn't get the point. Think about it. What was funny in what he said??? Did you really think that was funny? Would you, in a conversation with your girlfriends, think that was funny, if another woman or friend said that? What if it were said about your daughter, even as a joke? In my opinion, no mother should let another adult make fun of their teen daughter, Unacceptable....that goes for dads too!

When my girls get older, the one thing I hope is that they NEVER treat anyone with the kind of disrespect Jaime Foxx has shown Miley Cyrus. It is my hope that they NEVER make fun of another female. Busy, happy life!

To say I never thought I'd be doing all of what I am doing today is an understatement. I never thought home health would be as lucrative and busy as it is today. I am exhausted, but happy to be. In a time when people are loosing their jobs, we are very grateful.

My daughters: Well they want to be in the talent show. What talent do they have? I'm not sure yet. I'm not even sure what they will be doing.

My hubby: Well he finally got his birthday present. His birthday was in December. He got a nice 32 in LCD tv. Now he just needs his new recliner.

I'm also excited that this year, my hubby and I will be married for 15 yrs. Oh yes, and he got me a gps for my birthday. NOW who do you think absolutely loves that technology? If you guessed me, you guessed wrong, try again.

One has to ask who the adult here is???? I love Jaime Fox...Definitely a talent, but I also have kids. I can not tell you the distaste I have for ADULTS who pick on kids, and yes MILEY CYRUS, and what ever you may think of her, is still a child, a teen. Definitely not Jaime Foxxs' age, and what he says on his Sirius radio show about what she should do in Hollywood to get attention is appalling for anyone to hear. Really? chlymadia on a bike? How would you like that said about you Mr. Foxx, or your daughter or neice? Didn't you have as a guest to an awards show a young female relative? Imagine if someone had said that about her.

Miley Cyrus is entitled to what she says, as Radio head is to what they said. Honestly Mr. Foxx, I think Radio head did a supurb job in their response, and was very professional. Which is more than I can say for you. Honestly, what did you think your response accomplished.

I have to tell you, that I have two daughters, as you may well know if you read my blog. They are indeed, very busy. While Miley Cyrus may not be perfect, as a parent, I am appalled...I don't know what else to say. Definitely I would not want my child to act like that. Let's face it though folks, how many of us as children have said childish things. What excuse do us adults have?

Funny things said by my 7 yr old

Mondays are pretty boring. However, my 7 yr old I believe is in training to be a comedian. I am going to dedicate this day, Mondays, as funny things my 7 yr old says. Today, in an effort to get them more clean, or to have them do their chores, I had them take the dirty laundry to the basement. In this effort Rebecca, says, oh no, I think I disconnected my U-veeeee-la! *LOL*......I don't believe she knows what that is.
