Holiday Bliss is book 2 in the Bliss series-- It comprises three romantic novellas by three different authors--set in different era's, in one home on the water called, Bliss.

Tending Her Heart by Kathleen Shoop
Julie Peters' plans to modernize Waterside Hospital's labor and delivery protocols are thwarted by old school doctors and brown-nosing colleagues. But a handsome doctor who understands her point-of-view has a fine bedside manner and a way of Tending Her Heart that has forever-after attached to it. Can a Thanksgiving stay in the regal home called Bliss give her the space she needs to right her future and fall in love?

The Christmas Miracle by Marcy Waldenville
Brenan Brown has a terrible secret. One his beautiful wife doesn't know about. One that could destroy his happiness and his family. One he'd thought he buried along with his former identity in a grave in Ireland. But shady characters--terrorists really--from his past come to the stately mansion with blackmail and kidnapping on their minds. And with his family's after at risk, his future in peril, all Brenan can hope for is The Christmas Miracle.

Holiday Wish by JD Wylde
Vaughn Jennings has one rule he refuses to break. Not even for Chelsea Chathford, the curvaceous master carpenter he employs. With just reason. But with every day that goes by, it gets harder and harder to follow his rule. Can he follow his heart? Or forever wish he had? Because Christmas comes but once a year. And with it, the only chance to have his Holiday Wish come true.

"Each story is vivid in historical and modern details and will certainly have you wanting to visit Bliss yourself. The characters come to life, making you fall in love with each and every couple, rooting for them to make it. I highly recommend this wonderful novel by five talented authors."

"Loved the book! It's my first anthology and I couldn't wait to get to the next story for the continuation. Can't wait to read these authors' next books."

What a fun group of stories. Three stories in all, and all charming in their own way. The First story, starts out with Brennan, his wife and their son Colin. Of course, there is a secret looming for Brennan that he doesn't want his family to know about. As well as other secrets from other members in this enchanting story. Our second story tells of how our heroine nurse Julie has to deal with old school physicians. Yep, Julie they are still around. Fun and intriguing, these stories will keep you reading. In Holiday Wish, this book reminds me of my no dating rules when I was younger. You'll have to read this to see how this story turns out. If you like romance, you'll definitely like this book. The three authors did an excellent job, and put you in the holiday spirit. I am an old time romantic, and my favorite was with Brennan and his family. My friends you will have to get the book and pick your favorite short story for yourselves. Until next time. Read on my friends, Read on!

My bizzy life over the holidays!!

So This Holiday brings all kinds of fun for us! I was able to spend Thanksgiving with my immediate family, minus some family members. I made a dish that flopped, but Abbys chocolate pretzels were the bomb! We all had a great time. Then the next day, we had a get together with some of our friends for game night. If you saw my husband, you would have thought I didn't feed him. Chuck and I were famished, and the girls had a blast! It was a lot of fun, and I can't thank Jennifer and Tom enough. These two are kind enough to have a few get togethers in their home for our club will county women. So then, my husband goes to the store because we didn't make our own turkey. He got a nice turkey, and with the assistance of our youngest, we will have a turkey dinner. I love turkey!! The left overs are amazing.. You can make turkey sandwiches, soup, turkey salad. I'm sure there are a plethora of other ideas which I can find on pinterest. Last night, we went to my brothers again because my nephew came in from Louisiana with his girlfriend. Another great get together. Of course I had to get home and do housework, and good intentions of doing paper work. That never happened. (the paperwork) I was bushed, I had worked and then went to the get together. I still have housework, and need to get to the gym today. And I need to get the Christmas presents to the inlaws so the snoopy snoops don't look at everything they got. Yes, even at their age! Until next time!!! Carole

Do you geocache? Here's a review on an interesting thriller, take a look!

Cache a Predator is a geocaching thriller about a father’s love, justice, and the unhinged game of hide-the-cache.

Officer Brett Reed will do anything to gain custody of his five-year-old daughter, Quinn. But when a judge grants Brett's drug-addicted ex-wife custody and slaps him with a protective order for losing his temper, he fears for Quinn's safety. Who will protect her now?

When Quinn is found abandoned on the streets, she's placed in a temporary foster home until Child Protective Services can complete an assessment. It should only take a few days.

But a lot can happen in a few days.

Especially when there's a deranged psychopath on the loose, someone who's attacking pedophiles, someone who wants to protect children like Quinn, and someone who's planting body parts in geocaching sites.

This book is hidden in cache sites all over the US and Canada with the goal for it to travel to all 50 states. It’s mission is to spread awareness of child abuse and how it harms victims, families, and communities.

My Review: Boy since I started doing book reviews, I've read one good book after another. Cache a Predator is no different. Just as it sounds, it has the adventurous hobby of geocaching mixed in with a thriller type story line. This book actually has two story lines in it. One of child neglect, which is a reality in our society today. The other is of a mystery who seems to have an unusual way of revenge mixed in with geocaching. This story does remind me of the Lorena Bobbit story long ago. If you remember that whole story line, you'll get the other story line of the book, but with a twist. I couldn't stop reading, but I will think about going geocaching. Oh, and it has a little bit of a love story in this too. It is very dark, and deals with alot of real topics. Not for the faint of heart. Will Brett find happiness, and get Quinn? Will Sarah finally let a man into her life? Will Ali get the help she needs? Find out! Loved it, and I can't wait for a follow up. Until Next time. Carole

Christmas baking

How many of you enjoy baking during the holidays? I always mean to bake, but run out of time. This year we will spend Thanksgiving with my family, and the day after at a friends for more celebrating. I think we will bake some things to have people test for the holidays. My Christmas gift to my family was going to be Potica from our favorite bakery, but if I have time, I plan to do home made cookies. That's alot of baking. Can I ask my readers how they bake for large families? I will post some yummy recipes I have saved from Pinterest. I have to admit, that is my new addiction. Christmas baking recipes: Easy for me~ Description These easy, colorful, sweet & salty treats are perfect for Memorial Day picnics and pretty much any festivity you can think of. Ingredients 1 bag Pretzel Twists, Squares, Or Circles (9 Ounce Bag) 1 bag Hershey's Kisses (12 Ounce Bag) 1 bag (12 Oz. Size) M&Ms Preparation 1. Spread your pretzels out on a cookie sheet, and place one Hershey’s Kiss on top of each pretzel. 2. Place sheet in the oven at 275 degrees for 3 minutes–just long enough for the Kisses to get soft. 3. Remove from oven, and immediately press a single M&M on each. 4. Refrigerate until eating to make sure they are deliciously solid Cream Cheese Cookies If you like tangy cream cheese frosting and soft buttery cookies, you’re going to be in heaven. The cream cheese stays slightly soft, gooey, and tastes much more like cream cheese frosting than it does like cheesecake. The cookies have a caramely, buttery, rich depth of flavor thanks to dark brown sugar. It has more moisture than light brown because it has more molasses, creating cookies are supremely soft, tender, and moist. Graham cracker crumbs add another subtle layer of flavor and provide a tiny bit of texture. Make sure to chill the dough before baking. YIELD: 9 large cookies PREP TIME: 20 minutes COOK TIME: about 12 minutes TOTAL TIME: 3+ hours, for chilling INGREDIENTS: Cookies 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick) 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed (I used 1/4 cup of light and 1/4 cup dark) 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs 1 teaspoon cornstach 1/2 teaspoon baking soda pinch salt, optional and to taste Cream Cheese Filling 6 ounces brick-style cream cheese, softened (lite is okay) 1/4 cup granulated sugar DIRECTIONS: Cookies - To the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or large mixing bowl and electric mixer) combine the butter, sugars (highly recommend using some dark brown sugar), egg, vanilla, and beat on medium-high speed until creamed and well combined, about 4 minutes. Stop, scrape down the sides of the bowl, and add the flour, graham cracker crumbs, cornstarch, baking soda, optional salt, and beat on low speed until just combined, about 1 minute. Using a large cookie scoop, 1/4-cup measure, or your hands, form 9 equal-sized mounds of dough, roll into balls, and using your fingers, hollow out the center of each ball as if you were making thumbprint cookies. In doing so, the cookies will naturally flatten. Make sure not to go too deeply and punch through the bottom but go deep enough that each cookie will be able to hold 2 to 3 tablespoons of filling. Place mounds on a large plate or tray and place in the freezer while you wash the mixing bowl and make the cream cheese filling. Cream Cheese Filling - To the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or large mixing bowl and electric mixer) combine the cream cheese, sugar, and beat on medium-high speed until fluffy and creamed, about 4 minutes. Using a small spoon, equally distribute filling among dough mounds, smoothing the tops lightly with the back of the spoon or a spatula. Place mounds on a large plate or tray, cover with plasticwrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, up to 3 days. Do not bake with unchilled dough because cookies will bake thinner, flatter, and be more prone to spreading. Preheat oven to 350F, line a baking sheet with a Silpat or spray with cooking spray. Place dough mounds on baking sheet, spaced at least 2 inches apart (I bake 6 cookies per sheet) and bake for about 12 minutes, or until edges have set and cream cheese is just set; don't overbake for soft cookies (bake a few minutes longer for firmer cookies). Cookies firm up as they cool. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for about 15 minutes before serving. I let them cool on the baking sheet and don't use a rack. Cookies will keep airtight at room temperature for up to 5 days (I'm comfortable storing items with baked cream cheese at room temp; store in the fridge if you prefer) or in the freezer for up to 4 months. Alternatively, unbaked cookie dough can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months, so consider baking only as many cookies as desired and save the remaining dough to be baked in the future when desired. If you want to republish this recipe, please re-write the recipe in your own words, or simply link back to this post for the recipe. Thank you. I got these off pinterest. I haven't tried them yet. After the Fog book review

Another great book that involves nursing in a positive way.  If you're a history buff, the way in which this author takes you back to industry is awesome.  The reader will feel like they are standing in the mills, in the town of Donora with her descriptive writing.  I felt like I was transported back in time.  I felt like I was with Rose and her patient Isabella and Ian.   Alot of drama, and secrets that are kept. No matter what your profession, working or not, you'll love it. If you're a soap opera buff, you'll love it. However, due to the language, I wouldn't recommend to anyone to read under 16 to 18. That's my preference. I can't imagine what had to be like in nursing during Roses' time! Overwhelmed, stress, deceit, lies and trust. It's always more fun when it isn't you the reader, that's why this book is soooooooo good! Enjoy!

A Nurse’s Obligation
A Town’s Demise
A Mother’s Regret
A Son’s Calling
A Daughter’s Mistake
A Time to Forgive

For every woman who thinks she left her past behind…Historic, environmental drama wrapped in a love story...

It's 1948 in the steel town of Donora, Pennsylvania, site of the infamous “killing smog.” Public health nurse, Rose Pavlesic, has risen above her orphaned upbringing and created a life that reflects everything she missed as a child. She’s even managed to keep her painful secrets hidden from her doting husband, loving children, and large extended family.

When a stagnant weather pattern traps poisonous mill gasses in the valley, neighbors grow sicker and Rose’s nursing obligations thrust her into conflict she never could have fathomed. Consequences from her past collide with her present life, making her once clear decisions as gray as the suffocating smog. As pressure mounts, Rose finds she’s not the only one harboring lies. When the deadly fog finally clears, the loss of trust and faith leaves the Pavlesic family—and the whole town—splintered and shocked. With her new perspective, can Rose finally forgive herself and let her family’s healing begin?

“Shoop masterfully details familial struggles, secrets, and consequences that keep the reader riveted til the end.” - Melissa Foster

“This is a well-written story set authentically in a historic place and time, around an intricate plot which includes most of the elements that provide for a good “soap opera,” or a book that would be accepted by Oprah Winfrey.” -Historical Novel Society

Living life as a Diabetic and Asthmatic

It's hard being a home health nurse and a diabetic. The reason is because, inevitably, as I educate diabetics that are my patients I will get asked, "And what was your blood sugar today. As I type I haven't checked my blood sugar, today is my only day off. Admittedly I don't eat the best because I am on the road. I do eat healthy at home. It is hard being on the road, and it is just as hard to change your diet. I am improving however.my last HGBAIC was 7.4 For diabetics the goal is to be under 7 and more around 6 or 5 if possible. My goal is to get off this medicine. I have been on medicine my whole life. I have been as asthmatic for 49 years, and a patient for almost as long. It's a long road, but I am still here, and blessed with two beautiful daughters and a husband. I plan to post more on how to manage these two crippling diseases in hopes of reaching out and helping others. If you've been reading my blog, I am also a book reviewer, and I occasionally post giveaways. A girl has to have some fun!!!!

Be careful asthmatics, this is the time where your asthma can flare up.  I mention asthmatics, but anyone with a respiratory illness be careful as the weather changes.  Weather changes are a trigger for asthmatics, but can be triggers for those with Copd as well.

 Until Next time.

Girl in Black Pajamas

Hello Everyone!

I got the opportunity to enjoy another book, and do this review.  Thank you all for allowing me the opportunity!

I have to say, Chris Birdy does a good job at keeping the reader intrigued.  The first character, and most adorable, and endearing that comes to mind is Isabella.  If you have kids, you'll know what I mean.  What child can keep a secret?  Readers will fall in love with Isabella.

This book is a page turner for sure, lots of twists, turns and gossiping.  The Mcgruders and their clan are functionally dysfunctional, and I had a keyhole into their world.  I think most love to look in on dysfunctional families, that aren't our own, and have a few giggles.  In this book the reader will!!!!   Relevant?  Yes, especially with hackers and lawyers included in the twists and turns.  I would recommend this book to anyone over 16, it's definitely a good read.  When you figure out who is related to who, give me a jingle.  I'm so not good at that stuff.   Read on my friends, read on!

Until next time

Carole

R&B Investigations is under attack. Their employee is shot in the back as he enters the building, and a hacker is trying to compromise their secure network. While the Boston police investigate the shooting, Bogie McGruder needs to find the culprit who is trying to put them out of business.

Bogie and his partner Rose Jones can’t disclose their internet problems to the cops since Bogie is a hacker himself.

Bogie McGruder returns to Boston with his four- year-old daughter Isabella. He joins up with Rose Jones’ uncle Walter who is fresh for Lompoc Prison. Bogie and Walter strengthen their firewalls while they try to determine who is behind the invasion. As the R&B team hones in on the culprit, they uncover several murders and discover a plot to wipe out the financial institutions in Boston.

While Bogie is in Boston, his extended family in Palm Beach becomes enmeshed in a sex scandal that threatens to ruin lives and careers in the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

Feeling like a wishbone about to snap, Bogie tries to handle problems in both cities while Isabella continues her quest for someone to teach her the Five-Point-Palm-Exploding-Heart technique as seen in Kill Bill Volume 2.

This tale of murder, revenge and greed takes the reader on a whirlwind trip from Boston to Palm Beach and back. Buckle your seatbelt!

The Girl in White Pajamas
When Officer Bud the PR face of the Boston Police Department is gunned down, his brother, Bogie McGruder, returns from Palm Beach for the funeral. Since the BPD is investigating the death of one of their own, Bogie believes his trip to Boston will be a short condolence visit and a chance to meet his secret love child.

But interacting with a family fueled by alcohol and mired in scandals, Bogie is reminded why he does investigations for his Boston based company from a computer in Florida. Although Bogie wants to contact his ex-lover, Bailey Hampfield, he’s reluctant to do so since Bailey dumped him four years earlier. Knowing that Bailey had his child after she cut him loose, Bogie ponders how he can establish a relationship with the three year old daughter he’s never met. While he thinks about it, Bailey gets in touch with him and asks for protection. Someone is trying to kill her.

By the time Bogie meets Isabella, it’s apparent that he still loves the mother and adores the child. Bogie tells himself that he’s not interested in the BPD investigation into Bud’s death, but he continues to be drawn into it while trying to discover who is attempting to kill Bailey. The investigations seem to parallel each other, then intersect and become intertwined. As the story develops, Isabella, a precocious child obsessed with martial arts, slowly becomes the focus.

The underlying theme of this mystery is lies. Everyone seems to be running on lies and half truths. The only pure and true character is The Girl in White Pajamas.

About the Author
Chris Birdy was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, she did a four year stint in the Middle East. When she returned to the States, Chris settled down in the Boston area and became a true Bostonian by collecting college degrees while raising a family.

For more than twenty years, Chris has been a member of the legal community performing investigative work for Boston law firms conducting business in rough housing projects and crack house neighborhoods.  Several years ago, while sitting in a courtroom with a client, Chris watched as a police officer was lambasted by an attorney. The attorney was defending a young woman who crashed her car into two other vehicles before she passed out drunk behind the wheel. The occupants of the other cars were seriously hurt and the cop, a former EMT, tried to assist the injured while waiting for ambulances to arrive. The attorney questioned the cop's every move, shredded his testimony and made him seem inept. Embarrassed, the cop returned to his seat beside me and muttered, "Everybody lies. The judges lie, the lawyers lie, the witnesses lie.."  Chris wanted to tell him not to worry that in about five years he'd be just as good a liar as they were. The seeds for The Girl in White Pajamas were planted in that courtroom.

Chris lives outside of Boston and in Palm Beach, Florida with her husband.

Another fun giveaway!!! Ends November 1st

Hello my dear friends!  I have another great giveaway  for you!  Enter until November 1st!  Tell your friends!

.
"Paul Reid died in the snow at seventeen. The day of his death, he told a lie—and for the rest of his life, he wondered if that was what killed him."

And so begins the battle for the afterlife, known as The Commons. It's been taken over by a corporate raider who uses the energy of its souls to maintain his brutal control. The result is an imaginary landscape of a broken America—stuck in time and overrun by the heroes, monsters, dreams, and nightmares of the imprisoned dead.

Three people board a bus to nowhere: a New York street kid, an Iraq War veteran, and her five-year-old special-needs son. After a horrific accident, they are the last, best hope for The Commons to free itself. Along for the ride are a shotgun-toting goth girl, a six-foot-six mummy, a mute Shaolin monk with anger-management issues, and the only guide left to lead them.

Three Journeys: separate but joined. One mission: to save forever.

But first they have to save themselves.

A secret lies buried beneath the haunting statuary in Old Willow Cemetery. In Concord, Massachusetts, the surrounding woods are alive with the spirits of transcendentalists Emerson, Thoreau, and Alcott. Elias Hatch, the cemetery keeper, is the last of modern-day transcendentalists. Does he know the secret power buried in Old Willow Cemetery? Would he reveal it?

Next door to this cemetery is a lovely gabled house. When the Brooke family moves in, the secret of Old Willow strikes.

On a cold afternoon in March, five-year-old Henry Brooke does not arrive home from the school bus stop. Antonia Brooke is frantic her child is missing, or—the unspeakable—stolen. Adam Brooke spends a harrowing night searching the Concord woods, fear gripping him as hours pass with no leads.

Finally, a police dog tracks Henry’s scent inside Old Willow Cemetery. Detective Mike Balducci suspects that Elias Hatch knows the truth about what happened to Henry. Balducci knows Hatch’s metaphysical beliefs. What Balducci discovers buried in the cemetery is beyond the grave, beyond apparitions or shadowy drifts rushing through the pine trees.

There are the dazzled faces in the darkened air … and their secret.

The lives of two young black men from the Harlem "hood" of upper Manhattan in New York become inextricably intertwined through a series of seemingly unrelated events.
Follow Noel -- the Dollar Man -- through his early life on the street, a brief respite in a group home following his parents' arrest for abusing his sister, Jenna, culminating in several years of incarceration at the Bridges Juvenile Detention Facility in the Bronx after making a bold, but short-lived escape from the group home together with one of his roommates.

At the same time, become intimately involved in the parallel life of Terrell -- the Hustler -- who spends most of his life in the home of his grandmother, "Mama B," following his own mother's departure after she murders her friend, and who chooses to drop out of high school in order to embark on a life of drug sales, fast money, sex, and violence.

Until he encounters Noel.   This fictionalized novel is based on actual events.

Giveaway Alert!!!!

I haven't posted a giveaway in a long time!  This is not my giveaway, and I am posting for my dear friend Naila Moon.  Here is the giveaway for Carol Roman.

I really hope I did this right!  Enter away!!!!

Carole P. Roman is starting the Fall season off right with two brand new books,
If You Were Me and Lived In Greece and Captain No Beard and the Aurora Borealis.

"Captain No Beard and his crew of loyal pirates heave anchor for another adventure, this time in the icy waters of the Arctic. Captain No Beard's steering a course due north, sailing by the light of the North Star. Everyone on the crew wonders what the captain's up to, especially as he gets embarrassed when they ask. When the captain finally admits his plan, the crew discovers he plans to steal the aurora borealis, the beautiful northern lights that brighten the arctic sky. They're all shocked. They may be pirates, but even they know stealing is bad. Besides, how can anyone steal the lights from the sky? A charming, engaging tale about doing what's right."

"If You Were Me and Lived in…Greece , early learners get a taste of what their life would be like if they lived in Greece while being introduced to the birthplace of democracy. This book is the latest installment of the educational series about the cultures of the world that speaks to young children about the topics that interest them, such as the foods people eat, the names of boys and girls, and the activities that children their age living in a foreign land are likely to engage in. This exciting visit to Greece also introduces the important concept of democracy to children and highlights some of the other cultural contributions that Greece has made to Western civilization. Basic information is offered in a playful way that won’t overwhelm children."

Join Carole P. Roman as she celebrates the launch of each of these books with a wonderful giveaway which includes a paperback copy of each of the books and $100 Paypal.
