My opinions of wahms products and reviews

First I will give my opinions on these three products. I say my opinions because these companies did not know I reviewed products, nor did they give me permission to do so. However, I did buy these products, this is my blog, so I'm giving my opinion.

Peddlers kitchen

I bought 2 items from Peddlers Kitchen, the salsa mix, and tortilla soup.

Both were way to spicy for even me, how ever, I had a solution to that. I would like to commend Peddlers Kitchen for the ease of putting the recipes together. As a busy mom, networker, nurse, I love easy quick meals. Peddlers kitchen was affordable as well.
To solve the spiciness of my situation with the soup, I added more water to the soup, when that did work, I added less than 1/2 cup of water to my bowl. Very tasty, and the soup will go a long way. Packaged it doesn't look like there will be enough ingredients, but believe me, this soup is hearty, in my opinion. I like the tortilla chips Gina Langley chose for her soup. If there's anything I had is having soggy chips or crackers right off the bat in a soup.


Salsa mix
Again, very spicy, but I added another can of plain diced tomatoes to the mix. Still spicy for me, but the kids ate it up, and loved it. In my opinion, neither mix is for the faint of heart. If you like your food bland, you won't like this. However, if you like spice, this is for you.

I won a Mineralicious grapefruit scrub from the owner Chelle Barnett at an online vendor party. This was several months ago and I still have plenty scrub left. Chelle packages it nicely. Upon opening the scrub, the fragrance is very nice and not overpowering. It looks waxy, but lathers very nicely, and you do feel like it is cleaning your skin. The granules she uses for the scrub do not scratch or irritate like some scrubs can. I will definitely be forward to the products at Mineralicious even though I sell for two other mineral makeup companies!


Jordan Essentials

I got this from Kelly Wood who is a Jordan Essentials representative. This scrub is creamy and thick, and you just know it is doing it's job. Easy to rinse off and doesn't cake on like some scrubs can. Kelly offers excellent customer service to her customers. I will definitely be shopping with Kelly again.

A Funny Story On Christmas Eve

So every year, we give the girls pajamas for Christmas. It is our family tradition. We try to keep them, picking out ornaments and such. (this year we didn't do that) So after we spent the night with inlaws, we surprised the girls, and let them open one gift. Abby loves footie pajamas, so she was estatic. Becca, the less thrilled of the two, exclaimed. Mommy I am six years old. I'm not wearing them. LOL, I got it. In Illinois however, it was 7 below zero, and I was wishing I had footie pajamas. It was then Dad said to Becca, you hurt my feelings. After all, it was Dad who picked them out, (and did a good job, nice fit I must say) After that, Becca says, I'm gonna wear these every night! Ah kids!

Carole I don't get any sales at vendor parties.

REALLY??? Maybe because I haven't seen you at any vendor parties!!!! If you've said this to me...chances are I haven't. Granted there are alot more sites open now then there were 1 1/2 yrs ago, but let me tell you about last night. Yesterday, I had NO ONE come to my networking chat, that is another type of party....But then my good friend Kelly Wood had a party at her site, and at one I got a recruit. Then later in the evening she decides to have another party. I got another recruit and a sale at that one. 2 different businesses, 2 different times. How did I do it? I made myself visible, accessible. My presentations were, short, simple, concise. No bogged down by alot of techinical language. NOW, there are times when you need some of that language, but in my instance you didn't. It's also important to know WHAT type of online party you are having. Is it an online party where anything goes, does the owner want to spot light his or her biz, is it a hostessed event? You know or get to know these things by first visiting the site of the chat room. Get to know the owner, and make an attempt or introduction of yourself to that owner. Then you will know that owners ways and means and how he or she operates.

In todays world, a chat site isn't for several vendors anymore. Often times that site owner wants to showcase his or her business, so you do have to be careful. Make sure you know what you are walking into, and use proper etiquette. If you are not sure about what you can post in public on a chat site, find out how to private message the owner or moderators of the site. Most sites the moderators are fill ins, they are NOT the decision makers, so it is always best to check with the owner whenever possible.

If you are at a multi vendor fair, and want to sign up for a slot, don't interrupt the main stream of things if possible. Pm or the owner or mod and ask in that fashion. As always back selling is not acceptable in any form. Ask yourself this. If I make out a script for my candle business and put time into it, would I want someone to be pming their sales to everyone in the chat. If your answer is NO, and it should be, then don't do it to someone else. Lastly, think outside the box, if you are not getting sales in a vendor party, how else can you market your biz. Did you know you can do your own conference calls. You can even announce this in your party. This is a sure way to get some people interested, and even if it is one person, you have a captive audience. I will have more info on online vendor parties. Caroles Market Tips 101

I get asked often the best way to market or advertise. There are tons of places to do it. Many of us have heard the money is in the list. But what about those who don't even know what to do with the list. Are they lost forever. Other than the most important marketing tip, which is word of mouth here are some easy tips to remember.

1. Most marketers, or direct sales people look for the easy classified ads. For these to work well, they must first be written well. Use good grammar, and a spell check if uncertain of anything.

2. Don't use yahoo groups that are primarily spam groups. You'll know these groups when you see them. Chances are you'll get lost in the crowd.

3. Make a schedule for your self. Market one day, advertise and network the next.

4. Follow the rules of the group. If there are certain days a group doesn't do ads, or asks you not to include links, abide by those rules.

5. Help others. You will build your reputation, and at the same time help a new comer to the field.

5. Use pictures in the ad if allowed. Pictures bring the product closer to the audience. It is the next best thing to touching the product. Pictures say a thousand words.

6. Be descriptive about your product, and about yourself. Why should the reader buy your product, and more importantly from you.

These will go a long way in building your relationships, and good luck!

I have opinions

But I am still undecided. So, this is what I definitely decided to do! If someone can convince me, and I mean really convince me without any uncertaintanty of who to vote for, that person will have a prize! That's right I am giving a prize. So we will have a contest. Here's why I don't believe in JOE THE PLUMBER

If Joe the Plumber were really interested in expanding his business, and just like one of us.....why is he on the campaign trail with John McCain. I too once thought I'd vote for McCain, but after seeing this, I am not so sure anymore. Most people I talk to feel McCain is out of touch. I don't feel that JOE THE PLUMBER is any more in touch. Have you seen the pictures of "JOE" signing autographs and such. Don't get me wrong, but now he's coming out with a book? How is that the average "JOE" just trying to make his business work???? "COME on JOE, you sold out to politics for some minutes of fame and money!!!! The truth is, you don't care any more about how we are shaping up, then the politicians do!!!!

If Joe the Plumber were really interested in making change, or even how America is shaping up, or was, he'd be on your doorstep, or mine, asking us how we can better America. Not pulling for one candidate or the other. But because, John McCain mentioned Joe, Joe feels some loyalty I suppose. After all, it got him to meet Barack Obama as well. Aren't we all a little sick of JOE?

Just this nurses opinion. Too bad nurses aren't valued like "Joe the Plumber!"

It's my year!

Oh yes, hubby took the day off, to sit around. Don't tell him I told you this, because after all HE works. Don't we all. I mean what does he think I do? This is my year to take the girls out trick or treating, and they are really getting into it. They are both witches. Now to give my hubby his due, he did take them to get their costumes, but I did everything else. I made up the 50 treat bags, am helping with beccas party and taking the girls out, and then I work too of course. I hope everyone has a great day. I will take pics! Oh and this year, they finally took decent school pics esp ABBY....she is just gorgeous. Well I will be off soon to the post office. I have to mail things out of course. My two daughters

They keep me busy. I didn't think they would, or how much I would really enjoy driving them around. But I do. And I have to face reality, that they are not the kind to just sit around and play in the house. Abby has joined band, although not thrilled with her choice, she is playing the clarinet. Becky is in cheerleading. Both want to also join girlscouts, which I am thrilled about, since I was a girlscout. I am very proud of both! Both are doing well in school, and tomorrow, 10/15/08 Abby will be 10.

She has reminded me of how old she will be for the past month. I am surprised how time flies. It seems like only yesterday we were taking Abby in for her first open heart surgery. The obstacles this child has faced and perservered!

We still don't have their Halloween costumes picked out, and it is getting chillier where we are. I don't know about other moms, but my girls want to be the super hero instead of a princess. I guess they are tired of pink and all the frilly stuff that goes with being a princess.

To spree or not to spree, that is the question

We all need sales. Anyone sellling anything needs sales. But how does one go about it. Of course, the traditional ways, pounding the pavement, and going door to door. No one likes to do that though. Today door to door salesmen are seen as intrusive and sometimes shady. Online sales are bogged down by the number of wahm women wanting to gain an income for their families. Who can blame them, it is a cruel world in the corporate arena. And getting nastier. The online arena is becoming increasingly popular, and tougher to gain just a 2.00 sale. Therefore, women have turned to spree and shopping groups to try to keep up with their monthly, quarterly or yearly quotas. But are these groups functional and productive? The goal of direct sales, in my opinion is to make some extra money. Unless you have a downline of 400 people, who have the same goal as you, the direct saleswoman will only make some spare change. This is one reason these groups have become popular. However, being in these groups doesn't guarentee anyone a sale. Many times women/men will drop out without putting the agreed sale into the consultant that is due the sale. Being in these groups does not guarentee you repeated sales either. I've been in shopping and spree groups. It is like back peddaling into an upstream river. Albeit, the group of well intentioned woman is to help one another, it rarely turns out that way. And what if someone is dissatisfied with you, then they go to the proverbial complaint dept, and complain as to what they deem as inapropriate. Sometimes it can be very disconcerting if the complaint isn't warranted. The key to any sale is in getting a person to like and trust you. One does this by communication. Talking to people 1, 2, or 3 at a time will help develop a bond and actually get someone to buy your product. Joining a shopping or spree group just puts a bandaid on a growing problem of quotas, and a bad economy.Carole

This is too much

I've been a democrat much of my life. I am a liberal, but I think more on the conservative side. In any case, I did subscribe to one of those liberal newsletters. It was too much, too all assuming, too ridiculous. Not one of us knows how long we will live, what genes we will end up with. To say the white house could be in jeopardy because JOHN MCCAIN might get dementia is assuming much to much in my opinion. I don't get into politics or discuss it to much, but this and a networking site just has me over the edge with their assumptions! Take a look.

McCain Owes America An Alzheimer's Test
While Ted Kennedy and Michelle Obama were rocking the Democratic convention in Denver, John McCain made his 13th appearance with Jay Leno to joke about his age.
But McCain's age is no joke. He will turn 72 on Friday and would be halfway to 73 if elected and sworn in on January 20. That would make him the oldest first-term President ever, two years older than Ronald Reagan. He has survived four skin cancers (melanomas), including one in 2000 that was classified as Stage IIa.
McCain is two years older than his father was when he died suddenly of a heart attack at 70. He is 11 years older than his grandfather was when he died suddenly of a heart attack at age 61.
The United States cannot afford the risk that McCain would die suddenly in the middle of an international crisis.
Nor can we afford the risk of dementia. 22% of Americans over 70 are affected by mild cognitive impairment, while 13% of Americans over 65 have Alzheimer's. Ronald Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 83, but early signs were evident during his first term. Britain's "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher developed dementia at age 75.
McCain has never had an Alzheimer's test, even though he has 6 of the 10 warning signs , including his inability to remember recent facts like the number of homes he owns, the $1M lawsuit he filed in 1990, or the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
John McCain owes America a thorough test for Alzheimer's and cognitive impairment long before Election Day.

Cinderella Cinderella!

This picture was taken last year. Who knew that while we didn't see Cinderella at Disney world, my two little divas would be in a musical. They really are enjoying themselves and I hope making some new friends that will last a little while. It's hard raising two social butterflies, and I really do enjoy my time with them, because I know that in a few years they won't want mom around much longer. I'm happy they still want me around for now. Even if it does seem they can never get enough of me. I can't wait until they pull the whole musical together! The people in the theater are very good with the kids. I'd be going crazy about now. I can't wait to see if we can get video uploaded. We are still trying to upload video on abbys first theatrical debut!

I love my job!!

There are times, I must admit, when I don't like it so much. Today is not one of those days. Imagine being cooped up with only your laptop and t.v. ....no kids, no husband, no one to tell you to clean, even your subconscious. Ya, I love my job. Now back down to earth. It has its perks, while I am not sure who screwed up today, I am definitely enjoying my peace and quWiet, and to boot, I got a new used car. A ford Taurus. Yep, I am feeling pretty good now. Sometimes, my job isn't so stable, so I have to be ever so diligent, and I do want to get back into the ICU ring for sure! Well that's all for me for now. I do have to work, but not until later. Then I double back on Sunday, which I didn't realize was Fathers day. I still need to get Chuck a present.

Sad to say we never did have the auction for Sarah. I know Christina Trejo is selling some stuff and giving her a %. Christina has had to return back to work herself...she's that kind of person, always giving. If you would like to know what it is Christina is selling for Sarah, you can reach me here by adding a comment. We had to cancel the auction, because after Christina and I blasted about the auction, everyone needed an auction for something. I'm not saying anyones auction was less important than anyone elses, but it sure did dampen things, and take away from Sarah. What seemed like a good reason to have an auction, didn't turn out. Ah well, you know what they say about good intentions, and the road to hell....right?

My future actresses

Now I do need to get a more recent photo, since they are 6 and 9. We are working on trying to get their last play uploaded to vid status so people can see. Right now Abby and Becca are in girl scout camp. It is their last day. Then starting June 16th they will start acting classes for a musical. Their musical this year will be Cinderealla. Anyone in the Illinois Area can come on by. Let me know, I'll tell you where the musical is going to be. It should be very interesting. What I didn't think would happen is that they would love this as much as they do. I look forward to it. They are very busy girls!

I still have to get Ms. Abby her tutor for the summer, and Becca believes that because it is summer she just needs to have fun, and that's it. If life were that simple for all of us.

Why I am really starting to hate shopping groups

I joined this yahoo shopping group at the request of an online friend. It essentially was supposed to boost sales for us all. Despite my husbands pleas to drop out, I stayed due to a loyalty of these online acquaintances. As life happens, my friend had several life crisis at hand and could not manage the group. Before she had to give up the group, she allowed two new consultants in. These two new consultants have done nothing but complain about the group since day 1. Then one of these new consultants decides to ask if we are going to stay and asks for suggestions. When I write to the group and state that I do intend on leaving, her and her friend belittle me, and tell me how unfair I am to leave. Really? It is my decision, and this is the very reason why I don't like these kinds of groups. I want to move my businesses ahead, not bicker with other consultants on whether or not I am being fair. I don't need to be belittled in a yahoo group. I don't want to be in a group of bickering consultants, in my opinion, that is not a POSITIVE force in my life. I love interacting with people, POSITIVELY. Constant complaining about how things are run, is not a positive force, and to be honest, I don't want any part of that.
As humans, it is our nature, and as women, to criticize ...sometimes...but constantly.
I was the very first consultant for which people were to buy from. I sat patiently waiting for my next turn, knowing full well, it may never come. Yet I never said a word. That is called profesionalism. It is to be expected. It is where I want to take myself and my businesses. It is where I want my friends to be.

Accomplishment

That's the best term to describe it I think. I had to take my oldest out of her special ed class, and put her into another. And even though she is having trouble fitting in, the main reason she was taken out was because she was not doing well at all. WELL yesterday she came home with some great grade, and BEAMED from ear to ear! Accomplishment...yes, my daughter did need to see that she could do well on some things, and not just scolded for bad behaviour. Why I didn't remove her earlier, I really don't know I only hope she can keep things going! We all have issues, and seeing my daughter have a rough time with things is not easy! I had forgotten how truly mean kids could be. We are working on alot me and my daughters...but for my oldest to finally see the letter "A" on her papers....that is THE accomplishment she has been striving for!

Auction for Sarah

We are having an auction for this young lady May 16th through the 18th. Below is her timeline of events happening.

September 6th, 2007
I was in a car accident. It was considered a no-fault accident, so my insurance wouldn't covered my totaled Sable. I hadn't had my air-bags checked in a while and ended up very bruised.

November 1st, 2007
Accidental house fire in Highland, KS making me move back to Topeka and drop out of the college there. The fire was started from a small propane torch igniting itself on the front porch. We had to climb out of a window to escape. I didn't have renter's insurance so I lost everything without compensation.

December 24th, 2007
My step-mother passes away at 37 years old due to a heart attack after a week stay in the hospital. I stayed next to her bed side until she passed.
My nephew also passes away due to being born premature. He was alive for about a half an hour.
We couldn't pay for the funerals and ended up in debt just trying to cover what we could. My step-mother still does not have a head stone.

February 4th, 2008
I was involved in another car accident, this one more severe. I had just bought a truck. Paid 5,900 on the truck. It still had its 30-day tag on it. A 17-year-old kid ran a red light and right into us. They did not have insurance and I only had liability. The truck was totaled and there was no compensation on it, even though it was not my fault. Early March
I am ordered to bedrest and have to take off of work. Trying to pay all of our bills, including my college tuition and a mound of hospital bills, becomes extremely hard. I do not have medical insurance and I have gal stones. I'm going to have surgery to remove my gal bladder during my stay from the birth. My fiance works very had at a fast food restaurant, but does not make enough for us to even cut even.

My family's home burns to the ground. This one's cause is still unknown. The two-story home collapsed upon itself making it a complete loss. Everything that we worked so hard to build back up, was taken away, again.

My family is homeless. My fiance and I are trying to get a new place, but are having so much difficulty. I am almost 9 months pregnant, and we are having to bounce from couch to couch between family members, just to have a place to sleep at night. We had our hopes for a nice place, but we don't have the credit for it. Every day, we are getting more and more in debt and there is nothing that we can do about it.
I joined Pure Romance, using money that we really did not have hoping that we might be able to come out closer to even every month. As well, I want to do what I can to stay at home with my daughter. She is the one thing that keeps me going and she isn't even born, yet! I'm just afraid that I won't have much for her.

Time for remodeling!

Well my husband is in his remodeling mode. As if my house wasn't messy enough! To be honest my house does need to be remodeled drastically, so maybe it is karma in the way that it happened. My youngest peeled some of the wallpaper off the bathroom wall. So he is off with my 9 year old daughter to get some stuff to re wall paper. The thing is that he has never repaired the things that need to be repaired! I do need to fix a chair in my living room as well as paint my whole house and cabinets. It should be a fun summer. I've not painted since I was a teen, and I really wasn't shown how to do it...just told to do it. So wish me luck, I'll keep you updated on my remodeling and painting venture!

Networking works!

Networking should be so easy IRL right? It is unbelievable how many friends you make when you network. And I'm not talking about just posting ads. I mean actually talking and chit chatting with the gals and guys in the groups, on YIM and other places. I have people who I blast on my YIM, and those who I don't, I chat with everyone. I'm told I'm a chatty person, but in the long run, you will find some great friends. I am not here in life to make a buck. I want it all! Friendship, money, a good job, great kids, family, a great hubby. I want it all, and can have it all...and you can too! Network, try it, you might like it!

My artistically inclined daughters, no sports fans here!

Now this picture was taken a while ago. We are working on uploading some video with them in the actual play! I can't wait! I am so proud of both my girls. They were both in a play just after Valentines, and they both had some pretty big parts! They like acting more than anything, so I am going to work on getting them in our summer musical! Who knows, we may see the next big name???? I don't know what the future is for my daughters, but I do know they have a true passion for this, and I don't push them either. My daughter Rebecca was really too young for this class, but they let her enroll anyway. This was Abbys' second time in this class. Now if I could just get them to feel passionate about cleaning their rooms!

I have them enrolled in an art class for fun, and motor exercises. I can only draw stick men, so they've definitely inherited their artistic qualities from me! Abby is fussing about it, she'd rather act in a class then do anything else. I am going to have a talk with her about this. After all, who do you think makes cartoons, video games and coloring books right?
Because I have an antique piano in my house, that is a constant curiosity for them. I took some piano lessons when Abby was younger. In case you don't know. Abby and Becky are 9 and 6 now. So whenever we can I help Abby with the basics, Becca is a little small yet for the finger dexterity. It's a great way for us all to bond.
I used to play when I was little, and was pretty good at it I must say. I had a few lessons when I was 7 and continued to play until I was 10 or 11. When I have gone as far as I can with my daughters and the piano, I will get them lessons. Wish me luck on this, and thank you for reading!

Do you know what all the rage is with wahm businesses??? It's online vendor parties. I am not just saying that because I own one either. I work my butt off, and it takes alot of time and energy to own a site. Many are much more computer savvy than I, and really have some techie sites. My expertise is in my advertising and writing. So I am told. Believe me, I don't believe everything I hear! *LOL* Here is why online vendor parties are a must have for your wahm biz.

Think about it. Where else can you get to talk to people all over the world about your business and perhaps even sell them something. Yes it does depend on where your party is.

My daughters

Defiinitely growing up. I missed their first drama class due to work. Next Saturday I am off, so I am looking forward to going! I can't wait. I am also going to enroll them in cheerleading or some other activity. These two girls of mine, they are going to keep me bizzy! I will keep you posted!

What is still all the rage in the wahm biz circles?

Top 100 sites are all the rage, and there are some pretty fancy ones out there. I am not all that technologically advanced in the html and template world, and I have so much to learn. I too have a top 100 site though. http://carolestop.gotop100.com/

Some have advertising for low cost, with gorgeous buttons and banners. Some are in a contest to be the best. Whatever they look like, one thing is for sure, the who's who are on them. And if you have a wahm biz, it certainly might pay to get on a few.
You can google top 100 sites, there are tons of them. A word though, I've been told you should only post on like sites. For instance if you have a candle business, then you should post on a candle top 100 site. This is a great way for people to find their niche. Enjoy! This is a great way to shop, and find new friends.
